Just Three Things - 08 | 09 | 16

Welcome back to the next edition of "Just Three Things", which is a great place for me to pop in with a few quick talking points. It might be something we added to our home, something that caught my eye on the Internet, or just some recent iHeart happenings.

Before I hop right in, I have been receiving a few questions and comments in regards to our kitchen reveal. And now that I think about it, it has been almost a year since I last talked about it in great detail. I owe you all some updates on that, so look for that soon. We had some hiccups that are in the final phases of being fixed (every finger and toe is crossed), and I just had my very dear friend Grace visit to help me make some design decisions that I have been waffling on. The girl is a genius! So I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate all of you that have been checking in and are as excited as I am to see the space come together.

Now for a few more fun and quick things I wanted to share.

ONE

This spring I was invited back to the Bloom Workshop in Wesley Chapel, Florida as a guest speaker.

(You can check out my experience during the Seattle workshop here).  Although I was asked to speak, I have walked away from both workshops with a refreshed energy and filled with new information. Ashley and Michaela have done an impeccable job at putting together a venue for folks in the creative industry to learn about marrying business with blogging, to grow photography abilities and to pick up a few extra skills that can be integrated into the branding process.

Beyond information packed sessions about blogging and social media, I have personally learned a variety of calligraphy styles, styling tips and floral arranging ideas that I have begun to utilize for both business and pleasure.

And as cheesy as it sounds (you all know I love myself some cheese), just being around others that are enthusiastic about their hobbies and careers always ignites some extra excitement and fire inside of me.  There is something so exhilarating about listening to other's stories and business goals, and I have never been in a room filled with so much heart and passion.  Truly and unexplainable feeling.

If you are interested in learning more about this stunning venue and experience, you can find a full recap of Day 1 and Day 2 as well as a short video of the two day event.

TWO

I am a jumbo sized fan of mixing and matching metallic finishes in a space, but one I haven't really used much is copper.  I am not sure if the trend has already come and gone, or if it is just getting hot, but I have to say, I sort of love it!

I recently spotted a slew of beautiful copper office supplies at The Container Store that made my heart flutter, and I thought I would share my favorites with you.  As much as I gravitate towards acrylic for all of my drawer organizers, those copper ones surely will find their way to our home.

THREE

We try to use our reusable shopping bags whenever possible, but random plastic bags always seem to find their way to our home anyway. They are my nemesis, and although there are specific organizers on the market for stashing away these pesky clutter monsters, I love this idea from Melissa much better.  Not only is she reusing something she already has (yay for upcycling storage), it is so much cuter than anything I have found on the market.

Have you attended any workshops recently that left you with a full heart?  How do you feel about the copper trend?  And how many of you ran to attach a Kleenex box to your kitchen cabinet immediately after reading this post?  I know I did!

I recently made a small update to our master bedroom that has left me in awe of the power of paint, and I can't wait to share that with you soon! I hope your week is off to a fantastic start everyone!

  1. Walking away from a workshop or seminar and feeling re-inspired is the best! My organization recently participated in a workshop with Story Brand, a company who helps businesses "tell their story," and it was eye opening. Over the course of a day and a half the team reworked their mission/purpose, outlined their target audience, and created the general theme that should run through all marketing campaigns. You're telling a story to your potential customers/clients and they should feel like the hero of their story...your brand gets them there. It's pretty interesting and I highly recommend it.

  3. Yay! So excited to see this series pop up again :) I find it so fun to get to experience these things with you. Congratulations on speaking! That's so exciting! As for the copper - yes! There's this notebook I want that has copper edges *swoon* it's the recent limited edition from Leuchtturm1917, take a peek, you might like them! That plastic bag idea is adorable, we currently have this weird metal thing under our kitchen sink that serves the same purpose but it's an eyesore hehe, good thing it's tucked away out of view. Happy to see you posting more again, you seem happier and refreshed :)

  6. Love the tissue box for bags, though I've got another trick I found on Pinterest that I like to use. I fold them into "footballs". We use our plastic and paper grocery sacks for lots of things around the house, and especially in the car. When they're folded up they take up very little space, and it's easy to pop one in my purse, the diaper bag, the car console, etc. I think I'm going to use the tissue box idea to hold my little bag triangles now!!
