We have a little shelf in the kitchen/dining area that acts as a combination of display and storage for our wine glasses.
It is sort of our mantel if you will. From time to time I get the bug to swap out the decor, often times to throw up a seasonal display.
In the past, at this point in the year, the kids are doing a nightly countdown of number of "sleeps" until the Easter Bunny visits. However, this year, there is still mounds of snow on the ground and no green in sight. No flowers, no buds, no grass... nothin'. It doesn't feel like spring or Easter at all around these parts, so I decided I needed to do my part in bringing spring inside to get us hoppin' around with glee.
It was super simple and just took a little love, DIY, color and candy. Oh, and fresh flowers, they always speak spring louder than just about anything!
OK, seriously, how cute are those eggs? Would it be nerdy if I kept them up all year? I love.
I started out with some brown paper eggs from Michaels. I taped them off with painters tape and used craft paint in different sheens, to paint off the bottom of the eggs.
Once I pulled the tape, I wanted to add a little more glamor, so I whipped out the gold Sharpie marker and just drew a line around the egg by hand.
Awesome.
A little hot glue and twine later, and I had DIY egg garland!
Did someone say candy? It is so pretty and colorful, I had to integrate it onto the shelves.
Some Goodwill candle sticks with a coat of spray paint, along with some mason jars mounted with mounting putty, and we have a little candy display. I even Mod Podged some pretty paper to the lids.
In the center of the shelves I brought in a frame with some sketched art {more on that in an upcoming post}, and some soup cans, spray painted, wrapped in twine and filled with fresh flowers.
Some branches and more candy, and the display was sweet as pie.
Sure feels a lot more spring-like now! And the kid's faces were priceless when they saw the set-up this morning!
Anyone else getting creative and finding ways to bring some spring inside? I saw on Instagram this weekend that many of you were hit with more snow too! Ack. What's up with that?
Psssst! Stay tuned, tomorrow I will share a bit more about the Happy Easter print and be hoppin' in with an extra promo and giveaway!
That has GOT to be the cutest Easter garland ever! Love it girly! Is it odd that I love decorating with candy as long as it's the kind I don't like to shove in my face? Haha!
ReplyDeleteCute. Where did you get the glass dome that is over your grass in this display? I've been looking for something like that and haven't yet. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! Being a fellow Wisconsinite, I'm getting a little grumpy with all this snow & dreary weather! Your Easter display is exactly what I needed! Especially last year, when we were having 70 & 80 degree weather while I was on bedrest with my first pregnancy! What a difference a year makes! Love all the bright & cheerful color!
ReplyDeleteCute! Cute! I love the soft colors!
ReplyDeletePerfectly adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteCute! I love all of the colors! We put candy on the mantle for Easter too. It makes me smile every time I see it!
ReplyDeletelove this! where did you get the branches?
ReplyDeleteEeeek! First of all, such pretty photos. I am such a sucker for details and I LOVE the twine around the can. And the candy in a mason jar. . .why haven't I thought of that. So cute, Jen. Those eggs are super cute and my daughter would love to do those. Thanks for so much inspiration in one spot. Such a pretty space.
ReplyDeleteAnd it´s the same shelf! You could make a collage with the different decoration you had in this shelf, it´s a great inspiration! not just for shelves but also for mantels as you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteVey very nice.
You never cease to amaze me with your creativity! Such a fun Easter set up!!

It doesn't feel like spring here in Wisconsin either! I always decorate for kids. They always light up and it makes everything feel more festive & special. Beautiful "mantle". I too, have a "mantle"/dining room shelf that gets dressed up for holidays :).
ReplyDeleteYou did such an awesome job, it is so bright and cheery!! Love it :) We too are still buried in snow, five to ten feet deep in some places!! Can't wait until warmer weather and green grass get here!

It is so cute! Spring is on the back burner this year. Too much going on to worry about it. We are in the midst of tiling rooms. I still have lots of meals to make this week for work. Lots of dentist and chiro appts for kids and hubby and middle's birthday thrown in the mix (with both hubby and I working this Saturday at our jobs). I will save the decorating for next year, I think. I do love yours though. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet set up! Soo cute, all though theres a dangerous amount of mini eggs in those jars!! Great job!
