But it's not for me.
You see, months ago I was contacted by the friendly folks at J.J. Cole to see if I wanted to review a diaper bag. And although all of the cutie patootie babies popping up in blog land have really made my baby cravings extra strong, I am not preggers.
But my bestest friend is! And she is having a little girl, which I will call my niece. I couldn't be more excited about this since she already has a boy, and well, I have three. It's boy central around these parts so to be welcoming a girl makes for extremely exciting times!
I wanted to do something special for her, so I thought I would gift her a pre-filled diaper bag. During my last visit to her home, I grabbed a few things she already had on hand {since things like diapers and bottles are very mom specific}, and then went out to purchase the rest as a gift.
Is it just me, or has baby stuff gotten sweeter and cuter over the years? Gah, I can barely stand it!
I used this checklist at Babycenter to come up with a good list of things to include inside the diaper bag, and ended up with:
- Swaddling blanket
- Stroller blanket
- Plush toy
- Bottles
- Diapers
- Travel wipe case
- Diaper bags
- Pacifiers
- Hand sanitizer
- Diaper cream
- Powder
- Lotion
- Teether
- Nail Clippers
- Boogie sucker
- Two outfits
Like stroller grips?! Say what? So cool!
And a front pocket for all of mommy's things, like a phone and cards so you only need to take one bag everywhere.
Of course a matching changing pad is the icing on the cake!
But you know me, I just wanted to organize the baby goodies. It had pockets around the entire perimeter of the inside {and a total of ten pockets inside and out}, which I used to divide out the diapers and wipes, lotions and potions, bottles and personal needs.
I wasn't sure if the rest would fit, so I just rolled everything {vs. stacking so it would be simple for her to take things out and put things in without digging}, and it all fit beautifully.
Now she can check one more thing off of her "to do" list and be that much more excited to welcome her baby girl in a few weeks!
The sweet peeps over at J.J. Cole are also hoping one of you will have fun organizing your new diaper bag, as they are this week's giveaway sponsor!
That's right, one lucky winner will win a J.J. Cole Caprice Diaper Bag, which includes
- Spacious interior with multiple organizational compartments
- Easy-access exterior pockets for wallet and cell phone
- Insulated side bottle pockets
- Removable, adjustable shoulder strap
- Grips™ stroller attachments and coordinating changing pad

I LOVE trying out new diaper bags, but I've always gotten the cheap ones from Walmart. They're just not the same! Lots of pockets makes for a fantastic bag!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bag ... I always have to have extra wash cloths because my little one LOVES to spit up. I feel like a walking burp cloth half the time. At least with this bag, I'd be a stylish walking burp cloth!! lol
ReplyDeleteaj
Sophie the Giraffe and board books! My 11 month old loves to "read" in his carseat and Sophie gives him something to chew on when we're out and about.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting ready to have little girl #1 any day now and I'm still diaper bagless. It's sooo hard to find the right one. However, I am LOVING this one! Not too big, not too small and stylish!
ReplyDeleteI think the one thing baby necessity that I can't picture myself leaving the house without is my camera because I can't wait to take a ton of pictures of her!
First baby is due Feb 5 so I don't know the answer yet...probably an extra outfit!? But I REALLY like the diaper bag!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bag!! Love the gray and all of the pockets.
ReplyDeleteI'm pregnant with number 3 and this would be awesome! I want a new diaper bag after using the same one for two kids
ReplyDeleteI would love a new diaper bag! I am pregnant with number 3 and used the same one for the first two - it's time for a new one!
ReplyDeleteThis bag is the cutest! I never leave home without wipes. They are essential and come in handy even for the big kids.
ReplyDeleteAnn just realized wipes was an obvious choice so I am still going to be practical and say a change of clothes.
ReplyDeleteLove the look of this bag! I always had my nursing cover.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of rolling stuff- thanks!

ReplyDeleteAside from diapers and wipes, I never leave home without at least one little toy. It's a last resort toy, and it saved me on many shopping trips that ran a little too long. That bag is so cute! I wish I had known about them when I first became pregnant, I hate carrying around a separate baby bag.
ReplyDeleteI love this bag so cute. I always made sure to have an extra shirt for myself as well as the extra outfit for the baby. It came in handy SOOO many times to be able to switch out my spit up, spilt on, diaper exploded on shirt :)
ReplyDeletepacifier

ReplyDeleteCan't leave home without a hat for baby to either keep his head warm or shield him from the sun.
ReplyDeleteI'm a diaper bag minimalist, actually, but I always carried an extra light-weight blanket--for extra warmth, obviously, but also nursing, laying baby on the floor, shading from the sun, wiping up messes too big for the burp cloths :-), etc.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a Newborn, you can't forget "The boogie sucker!" =D And if they're teething, don't forget Hylands Natural Teething Tabs - they are the best!

ReplyDeleteLove the bag!!
This is the most perfect gift for one of my many pregnant friends! They'll fight over it for sure!
ReplyDeleteThose disposable bed pad things. Public restrooms freak me out and I've seen some horrendous changing tables. I would have a regular changing pad but something grossed me out about putting it on something filthy then putting it back into the diaper bag. You put one of those thin disposable bed pads down and they cover everything and you aren't packing up someone else's icky germs back into your bag.
ReplyDeleteWe are expecting our first in 8 weeks!! I can't say for sure yet what our essentials will be but from what I hear I'm thinking extra outfits or pacis... I'll know for sure soon !
