Formerly an IT engineer, Alejandra's expertise has been featured in HGTV, CBS, Family Circle, Woman’s Day, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, NewsChannel8, and Mashable.
That's right my IHeart pals, Alejandra is a fellow "Clean Freak". Love.
And this girl is GENIUS! No joke, her solutions are so insanely smart, I am inspired by her each time I visit her site. Mad organizing skillz!
I will let her show you first hand, her first tip today is all about organizing under the bathroom sink.
"One thing that’s super annoying about organizing underneath the bathroom sink is the annoying J-pipe in the middle of the cabinet! This totally limits what you can and cannot do when it comes to organizing the space.
In this video, I show you how I organized my bathroom cabinet to get the most out of the horizontal and vertical space. I just love this space now, everything is super easy to access, easy to put away, and there is now a home for everything!"
Next up, T-Shirts!
"While Ed was biking this morning, I tackled his t-shirt drawer. Although this looks like it took a while to do, it only took 30 minutes to fold everything! I think that’s totally worth it since now he’ll be able to immediately SEE what he has. On a side note, I think he needs to downsize his t-shirt collection – it seems like guys always have sooooo many t-shirts!"
And, the following tip is by far the most brilliant way I have seen when it comes to organizing those pesky warranties, manuals and receipts. Swoon!
"I woke up at 7:00AM on a Sunday {can you tell I love to organize?!} to organize my home warranties & manuals.
I don’t keep ALL of my receipts in here, only expensive items that I might return, need to show proof, might break, or sell one day. Small purchase receipts are kept somewhere else. A lot of warranties and manuals can be downloaded online {and thus the physical manual can probably be chucked or recycled}, however, I’m still stuck in the stone age and prefer “physical” paper I can see, touch, and hold."
Pretty incredible right? And how much fun is it to see organization through a video!? She does such a great job showing and explaining things, and is such a natural delight on camera.
A bajillion thanks to Alejandra for stopping by today with her incredible tips and tricks. You can find more super fantastic videos and tips on her website here.

blog!
I was wondering when you two would team up! I love visiting both of your sites. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE her warranty and manual binder organizing video!!!! Thanks for sharing. xo
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Welcome Alejandra. I love her YouTube videos. I think I have watched them all several times. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove that folder idea. Mine are all in a box which is a pain to sift through if I need something. I tried the sheet protectors idea years ago but gave up on that for the very reasons Alejandra explained. Love the pocket folders though so I am off to Staples to buy some! Also, I fold my daughter's million t-shirts that way and love it! It only takes a minute and it is so much easier for her to find which one she wants (not to mention it helps her actually wear more of them instead of just the ones on top all the time).
ReplyDeleteI started folding all of our t-shirts that way too recently after watching her video and love it! I agree, it definitely helps with the kids rotating their clothes.

DeleteI need to convince a certain somebody in my life to use the binder system for his recipes etc (and every other scrape of paper he can't seem to part with... holy moly...)! I love the tshirts. I roll my camis and tanktops and stand them upright in a leather bin in my bathroom because I don't have a dresser. Works great!
ReplyDeleteps - was thinking of you as I began organizing my laundry room this week! haha! THE GREAT LAUNDRY ROOM OVERHAUL
Thank you so much for this post! Perfect solution for under the sink!
ReplyDeleteMarybeth
I am obsessed with Alejandra's videos! I've seen all those videos and every other one she's posted! She is so pretty and inspirational!
ReplyDeleteWOW (with capitals!) So inspiring! I feel like starting some serious organizing at home right now :o)

Totally going home from work and redoing our bathrooms!! I was using locker shelves under the sink for 2-tier storage, but I love the bin idea much much better! Thank!!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby organizes his t-shirt drawer the same way....like a file cabinet:-). That was one change he made when we re-organized our bedroom dresser over a year ago, and he still maintains the system very nicely (which is amazing, since he is by nature not an organized person).
ReplyDeleteWho knew his idea would also be that of a "pro", lol!
These are some of the best ideas, I love it! Will definitely be doing some of these!
ReplyDeleteI love Alejandra!! I follow her on youtube and love her tutorials!! Can't wait to see more of ya'll together!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I also follow both and was excited to see this post. I check daily.
DeleteWow, this was great! Thanks for sharing Alejandra's tips.
ReplyDeleteI should really get one of those shirt folders! Thank you for sharing these :)
ReplyDeleteNow that's folding t-shirts!
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd offer a tip for diy and doing it on the cheap. Just 2 weeks ago I decided that I needed a t-shirt folder b/c I love neat but can't fold shirts like a pro. I decided that to not just to save money but to save time trying to find one (I had no idea where I would buy it) that I should see how to make my own. I just googled "how to diy a t-shirt folder" and quickly found instructions using foam board from the $ store.
ReplyDeleteIt costs me $3 for 2 sheets and duct tape that I had on hand and it made a perfect t-shirt holder. It works so well and I'm geeking out over our perfectly stacked shirts/tops in our closet organizer cubbies. It's fast & simple (both to make it and to fold shirts).
I also do the same thing for our warranty and manuals- separate binders for things that go with the house and another for other purchases. I separate each binder folder by room. But it does work very well.
I love the bathroom cupboard organization tips. Where did you buy the stackable bins as well as the over the door ones that hold your hair dryer and hair products. I have been looking for something like that!
ReplyDeleteI love your organizing tips ~ especially for the bathroom cupboards. I am wondering where you bought your stackable bins as well as the over the door ones that hold your dryer and hair products? I have been looking for something like that!
ReplyDeleteMe encanta el trabajo de Alejandra, soy seguidora fiel.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those flip fold organisers.. I use it for towels also, it's brilliant, I almost gave up on hubby's t-shirts as I never used to do the last step.. but wow.. I am so going to do that now..
ReplyDeleteoh and Ps: some receipts fade so you should photocopy it for the folders.. love the binding system! ours is in a tub!
ReplyDeleteLove these ideas so-o much. I've already pinned it and shared it with my daughter. So clever, Alejandra. Thanks, Jen!
ReplyDeleteI have been out and bought some stacking bins today, after seeing how well they maximise the space in a cupboard!
ReplyDeleteI have been out and bought some stacking bins today, after seeing how well they maximise the space in a cupboard!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find the folders on staples.com that Alejandra used to organize her warranties. Does Staples make them anymore?
ReplyDeleteI am new to your organizing blog and I love it! It has never crossed my mind to fold T-shirts like that. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy manuals are in a tote. I do like this binder idea better.
ReplyDeleteAnd extra tip that might be really important depending on what store you purchased your items from. Some stores use cheaper inks that degrade and disappear over time. That important receipt you need just might be blank when you need it. I have had it happen twice and it was really frustrating to stand there with an unreadable receipt. Photo copy your receipt and tuck that along with it. It just might save you a head ache in the future.
