"It
is such an honor to be featured over here at IHeart Organizing. I can't
say enough about what Jen and her team have done for me. Let's just
say it was a ROUGH summer on my end and reading her blog gave me a
break from reality and really gave me something to look forward to. I
am incredibly thankful for that. I am a HUGE fanatic for all things
design {and that includes organizing}. It is my dream to be just like
Candice Olson, Jennifer Jones or Sabrina Soto. I consider them my BFFs
and I'm okay with them not knowing about this yet...lol! {I guess Jen
knows now}
I am so stoked to share with you some of my latest projects:
- Chalk paint dresser makeover
- Homemade folders for my household binder kit
- Powder room makeover
The
first project came about as a result of me helping my sister
transform her son's bedroom into a military themed room in honor of his
father, who is a Marine. I am not quite finished with the space yet but
it is coming together OH SO nicely. His bedding just arrived so I will
be blogging about that real soon. Check out this Chalk paint- dresser makeover that
ended up being a total game changer for his room. First step was NOT
sanding or priming it was just slapping on only ONE coat of ASCP {Annie
Sloan Chalk Paint}- Chateau Gray {perfect camo green color}.
It dried in
25 mins, which is so incredibly awesome and then it was ready to be
waxed. After waxing I distressed all of the edges with a fine grit
sanding block and then waxed it again....VOILA! This bad boy was done
in one afternoon and that is why I love ASCP! Next step was to install
new hardware and use scrapbook paper to line the drawers.
Check out
this guy's progress....
I
finally finished this next project two weekends ago during Hurricane
Sandy {that awful BLEEEEEP who destroyed my sacred vacation
spot...grrrrr}. During the Hurricane we were stuck inside for a few days
due to the State of Emergency. We were VERY VERY VERY blessed to still
have power and we are still praying for those who don't and those who
LOST a lot from that horrible storm. However, this finally gave me some
time to sit down and put together my household binder. I purchased
Jen's binder kit from her Etsy shop over
the summer and I have been gradually updating it. After I started
using it more I realized I needed folders for each section to house
greeting cards, stamps, gift certificates/cards, receipts, bills and
your typical everyday paperwork. So here is what I came up with....
To read my step by step instructions for these folders click here.
Yup....these file folders were transformed into dual pocket
folders, as well as labeled dividers, for each of my 7 sections. I am
so stinkin happy with how these turned out. All it took was a little
imagination, scissors, a stapler, a 3 hole punch and PRESTO, exactly
what I wanted! I am so grateful to Jen for creating a monster whole new level of OCD for me. Thanks girl! Ahhhhh I am so organized now.
The
last project I am going to share is a very outdated powder room in my
condo that was dying for some new clothes, makeup and a little jewelry. I
had been living with this heinous striped wallpaper far too long so I
went on a search for the perfect replacement. I found this beautiful
damask gray wallpaper here and
I ordered it on the spot. It was love at first sight and second and
third and so on. Can you say OBSESSED?!?! It's even prettier in person.
Check this girl out...
I
couldn't help but pick hot pink as her accent color. What girl doesn't
love pink?!? I always say accessories in a room are like the jewelry to
top off a great outfit. The outfit isn't complete without them. A lot
of the accessories in this space were bargain finds {who doesn't love
that?}. The following items were found at Target: white vase, soap
dispenser, crown shelf & gallery frame. The basket and trash bin
were purchased at HomeGoods. The flowers and chrome vase were from JoAnn fabrics. The mirror/medicine cabinet were a Home Depot find and the
light fixture was a splurge from Bellacor.
I am still searching for the right faucet and some sort of towel
bar/ring.

I
want to give a big HUG and THANK YOU to Jen and her team for allowing

I absolutely love the dresser makeover. What a difference it made, WOW!
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern in the bathroom - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis girl looks like she has some great ideas!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea using those manila folders to create pockets for your household binder! They are so pretty!! My greeting card binder is separate (http://www.prettyorganized.com/organizing/organized-greeting-card-binder), but I love the idea of keeping everything in one place inside of your household notebook, too! You are totally inspiring me to switch everything from my filing cabinets into binders now!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking a minute to read my post =) It was Jen's idea to create this binder, I just tweaked it by adding my own folders. We are a good team!!!
DeleteWow...Michelle is so creative! I can't wait to join her blog and follow her!

ReplyDeleteAhhh, what a little "post-election" haven I have here. So peaceful, so organized...unlike my fb page. <3
ReplyDeleteAmen sister!
DeleteLove how the dresser turned out! I have an 8 month old little boy. I am a little embarrassed to say that I haven't finished his room. We have managed to slap some paint on the wall an add a chair railing. Thank you for the great ideas. Oh and love love love the bathroom!
ReplyDeleteSome great ideas implemented for refurbishing storage solutions!
ReplyDeleteThe details are gorgeous, especially the knitted cover for the soap dispenser! Accent colours are so hard to find sometimes, especially to find something that matches that isn't too overpowering. Gorgeous choices!
ReplyDeleteThe damask wallpaper is gorgeous! I'm too intimidated to try wallpaper myself, but I love this one!
