The most challenging pendant to photograph in a zero natural light room....
I found the shade last week at one of the new World Markets that opened up here in the twin cities. I actually went seeking out another possible option, but when I saw this, I knew it was "the one".
I love the size, that it has an unexpected inside and that the semi-flush mount light that we already had, made it easy to just swap out the shade for this one. No light kit or installation necessary. It was meant to be.
It simple little switch that added so much more to the space!
Anyone else recently score a great deal on something completely unexpected?
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd your laundry room looks so good I could sleep in it. So perfect!
Great shade, in a great color! Bright, fun colors somehow make doing laundry a tad bit better. We have a World Market just 15 minutes away, and I rarely ever go in to shop because I forget about it--I really should check it out more often.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I'm a sucker for light fixtures these days, they are so fun and can be a great statement piece for a room!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! They always make such a difference!

It's so cheerful & cute! Great find! I love how it brings out the yellow in your wall art, too -- it fits right in :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shade. So happy and cheerful. Great find. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! I wish my laundry room was that bright and adorable :) That shade of yellow is perfect!

That is really cute! I wouldn't mind a laundry room that size either!
ReplyDeleteLove that! I think your laundry room could rival Disney World as happiest place on earth! lol For moms, anyway...
ReplyDeleteBest comment of the day! :)

Looks great, and you'd never know there was no natural lighting from those shots. Great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Leanne!
DeleteLooks beautiful!!! Just curious... what kind of light is underneath it? I'm wanting to do something with a shade, but just can't figure out how to attach it all. I didn't see any "light" before pictures (in your home tour) so I was just curious! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was just a standard semi-flush mount, so it already had a slight drop down socket, which the shade attached to. I am not sure that this light would work with the standard flush mount lights that are in most rooms, without swapping out the light kit.

Love it!!! Would die to have a laundry room this pretty :)
ReplyDeletewhat a total steal! At $28, even if you could make it cheaper, it wouldn't be worth the effort! It is so beautiful and simple. It's really the little details like the patterned inside of the shade that put a smile on my face and make a house a home! Great find Jen!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Jen! If you're ever stuck for ideas for posts - I'd love to know how you get such great shots in a windowless basement! Looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thanks Robin! I put a few lamps in the room with "natural light" lightbulbs. I also use a tripod which allows me to control the shutter speed on my camera.

World Market wins again! Love the pop of yellow and the more custom look without the price tag! :)

I absolutely adore that there is a world market exactly 2 miles from our new home in Roseville (we moved from downtown minneapolis this past summer) I just hung some fabulous new curtains from there and am drooling over a dining table currently.
ReplyDeleteWhich one were you at??
Cheers!

Hi Heidi!
DeleteCongrats on the new home! :) I was right near you, at the Roseville one. It is so nice and big, it was a happy moment for me!

I miss world market so much!! Thanks for the vicarious shopping trip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! I love World Market! For being a difficult photo to get the pics turned out beautiful! Love the yellow :)
ReplyDeleteI love this shade. We are living in a rental right now with horrible light fixtures, and I have been brainstorming what I could do. We are overseas so no World Market to come to my rescue, but at least now I have an idea. Love your laundry room!
ReplyDeleteLuv the shade but the rug is fantastic, can I ask where you found that?
ReplyDeleteThank you! Here is the source for the rug: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=18491175&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS

A lovely light, though it looks a little low from the angle you show. I'm assuming it's up where it won't bonk anyone in the head! You are so clever with all your fix-ups!
ReplyDeleteAlthough we are shorties, it is still plenty high for the average person. In fact, I considered lowering it a smidge.

I like your new shade; it works well with the rest of your laundry room, which, by the way is lovely! I agree with the sentiment that a laundry room should be a welcoming place, since we spend so much time there! I echo those who mentioned the rug in front of the washer and dryer- it is so cheerful and I love the colors. I, too, am curious where you picked it up. Colors wouldn't work in my laundry room, but maybe something else...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I have never been the biggest fan of doing laundry, but the room definitely makes it just that much more enjoyable!

ReplyDeleteYou have great style AND are so creative! I love stopping by to see what you have come up with. GREAT ideas!
Jen - thanks for the inspiration. Where'd you get the pictures on the shelf? I'm working on a yellow guest room...

I am having some serious laundry room envy this morning...WOW - don't even want to go in my laundry room now!

I love your laundry room...it's beautiful and so big! My laundry room is the size of my washer and dryer plus 2 feet...I wish there were a blog this nice for itty bitty apartments!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I would handle an itty bitty space just as I do a big space. Maximize the storage above the washer and dryer, paint it, maybe even add a light fixture. Make it feel like a room. I have a lot of reader spaces featured here with washers and dryers in the closet. :)
