  3. My favorite filing tip (though I'm far from a good organizer) is, no matter what filing/organizing system you choose, stay on top of it! Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  4. I had no idea something this awesome existed! Would love to win!

  5. I'm currently using the FreedomFiler system, but I love the idea of being able to continually reuse the labels with this brand.

  6. Well...I don't have a favorite, because I suck, which is why I come to your blog for inspiration. I guess what I usually do, is piles and then get to it later. It works out in the end, but the process is not pretty.

  7. These would be amazing - I NEED to be on top of my paper messes. They are still conquering me! Help!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I conquer paper by dealing with it immediately instead of letting it pile up.

  14. I have a wooden mail sorter with 3 compartments right by the entrance of my door so as soon as I get inside, I can quickly put bills/action/reference items into their own separate sections. The sorter has a handle so I can easily bring it in to my desk to handle the items over the weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I love this!! We are moving soon, and this would be great to get me organized!

  17. My favorite filing tip would be always get rid of what you know longer need. It's so much easier to be organized if you don't have a bunch of stuff that you are never going to need taking up space in your file cabinet!

    ReplyDelete
  18. These look great. My best tip is to decide what you need to keep (and what you don't -utility bills from last 20 years!) set aside those docs as you receive them and then file on a set day each month.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't know if this is the best tip but to keep paper under control we go through the mail daily and sort it right away. No more keeping unwanted papers!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. We do the same! Sort as soon as we walk in the door and then either recycle, throw away, keep, file appropriately etc. Really cuts down on paper pile clutter.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I keep paper clutter under control by taking care of the mail as soon as I bring it into the house.

    ReplyDelete
  24. What a fantastic concept! I really like anything that can keep me organized, but can be used again and again as our needs change. Thank you for the opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am a teacher and have SO many papers! I organize by hanging files all the time by unit and each child has their own file too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. This would be so awesome to win. I love being organized!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love these! I have a decent filing system, but I can never see the tabs, so I have to remember and hunt around for the correct folders. That makes filing such a pain! I think it'd be so much easier with this system, and I love the dry erase aspect. Most of mine are scribbled out right now!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would love to try these! I need to update my filing cabinet soon and this would be a wonderful addition!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. My two favorite paper organizing tips -
1: if you already have paperwork under control, go through it all at least once a year - old bills or items you realize you no longer need to hold on to (I did this and found a manual for a kitchen gadget I got rid of years ago)!
2: if you have an overwhelming stack of papers to organize, set a goal of organizing 10 per day (or however many make sense with the size of the stack) until the stack is gone and the paperwork is nicely organized!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I file things right away before the paper clutter gets out of control.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The best thing I did to organize my filing was to take large files that aren't used much like instruction manuals out of the file drawer and put them in cute file boxes on top of a shelf. I staple the receipt right in the manual so they're easy to find for warranty service.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love how you can reuse and reuse!! Just started my filing organization project... Perfect timing!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Love this! Less waste and better oranization = happy mom!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love these what an awesome way to label your files. I just made a new workspace in our spare room and the only thing left to do is get filing storage and hanging files for my office. These would be a great thing to have!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I unfortunately inherited my mother's horrible paper hoarding habits... BUT I am determined to not let the habit control my house! So I have a wire basket that will hold about a weeks worth of mail and after that it starts to overflow so while I roll my eyes at the thought of having to deal with it every week, when I empty and sort it I get this amazing feeling like I just decluttered the entire house! Paper clutter is so smothering but purging is a great freeing feeling!!! My sort system is a black plastic file folder case that has tons of folders for everything life throws at us and it's easily portable around the house or to the tax lady during tax season so that I can pull out any kind of receipts and paperwork she might suggest could help!

    ReplyDelete
  43. No more turning file folders inside to write a new label. This is a great idea! Would love to win.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The best tip I can think of is to stay on top of it! If not the piles get higher and I tend to get discouraged.

Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  45. um...not sure I want to admit it, but I don't have any tips because my paper filing is a MESS! Hopefully a pretty new system will motivate me to get moving and make it work! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow these are cool! My filing system could use a serious makeover!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love color coding file folders and labeling everything!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I try to stay on top of filing. I haven't done it yet, but I will be going through my files in the somewhat near future and assessing what I can really keep vs. what I can get somewhere else (online) or scan into PDFS.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'd love to try these! Thanks for the great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  50. You know, i haven't found my favorite filing system yet - I've tried lots, but have been unable to keep it up, which i think means that they're not right for me.

I seriously need to find something!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm embarrassed to say my filing system is always trying to find the best filing system. I try one system out, get everything set up and then a couple of days later think of a new way and the whole process starts again :/

    ReplyDelete
  52. This is such a good idea! I hate having my files look old and messy with crossed of labels!

    ReplyDelete
  53. My favorite paper clutter conquering tip is to scan some documents and just keep digital copies instead of paper ones.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This looks so much easier than dealing with the old tab and slot method. Much less paper wasted.

All I use now is a filing box I got from Target, which I love, but I am constantly having to switch up the tabs, make new ones from index cards etc. These would be fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  66. The two things that help me most with my filing are labeling not based on what sounds most official but on what makes the most sense to Ben so he feels comfortable with it and filing as I go, if I start a too file pile I get too intimidated by it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. THis would really improve my current filing system which is lacking just a bit of a finished look

  70. These are fantastic! I love organizing because of products like this.

    ReplyDelete
  71. About a year ago I moved to a mostly paper-free filing system, and kept what needed to be on paper in a set of four binders. This binder system is so not working for us AT ALL, and I've been thinking I should probably move back to a small filing box or cabinet, maybe a fire & water proof one. Anyway, since we're all green over here, this would be fantastic to have and be the catalyst I need to get me on that project.

  73. I started getting most of my bills online only so I could declutter and then we have a file cabinet to divide things like our medical, car maintainence, house purchases etc. We also have a spreadsheet with all of our monthly bills on it that we fill out each month the due date, what due, amount paid and date etc (since most of said bills are online). It has helped us go through our mail much quicker!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I organize in piles. Would live these to help me out!

    ReplyDelete
  75. My favorite filing tip is to have 1 designated spot for things that need to be filed. Then I file them once a week. And every 6 months, I go through and purge anything that isn't needed anymore. And shred it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. OMG! Like someone else said, one of those GENIUS ideas that you wonder why no-one thought of it before. I loathe those little bits of paper that often get lost or just look crappy. I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! My favourite paper handling technique is to sort mail immediately. First stop, the recycle bin. Keeps our papers in some sort of control (at least until they hit the abyss that is my husband's desk...he doesn't have any systems...yet).

    ReplyDelete
  77. Sure hope that I'm lucky enough to be a winner!

  85. I have several file boxes for different things. I have one that covers bills (medical, home, etc) another that is for homeschooling (one per child) and finally one that locks and is firesafe for original important documents like birth certificates and wills. It make life so much easier when it comes time to look for those papers. Th

  86. In my file cabinet, I place all the file labels in a straight line instead of staggered. It looks neater that way, and I never have to worry abou a label getting out of line. Plus it is easier to remove or add files as needed.

  95. I keep monthly folders... where everything goes in. I have four sets of these, for the four years most items are needing to be kept (really three, but that fourth year is when I start the purge). During that fourth year I go through the folder and anything that needs to be kept longer gets moved to the long term storage filing cabinet and everything else gets trashed.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Perfect timing. Just last night had to look in 4 places to find last Spring's report card for honor's membership. This system would be very helpful for our large busy family.

  101. I've been working on organizing my paperwork for the last month! I was just writing on the backs of all of my file labels but that means there is something completely random written on the back of them all. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I use hanging files, manilla folder and binders to organize our papers.

    ReplyDelete

I started this summer by buying folders BEFORE the start of the school year and marking them with the kids names and grades. Now when there is something to save it goes directly into the folder. Easy peasy.

  141. The important thing with paperwork is to not let it pile up before tackling. I have a small basket that I put papers in that need to be filed. Once a week as I pay bills I empty my basket. The basket has to be small enough so you are not tempted to fill it.

    ReplyDelete

I have been using post-it notes as tabs!!

    ReplyDelete
  144. My favourite filing/paper clutter strategy is actually a tedious one. I just finished three years of college and have all the papers from each year in a reusable grocery bag. I'm going to be taking these notes and condensing them into smaller study notes. Each course will have its own duatang, then each year will have it's own magazine holder. I have an exam in four years to finalize my "status", so having these condensed versions of the notes is an asset.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

  171. OMG! I need this!!!! I love to file everything so that in a moments notice is something is needed - I know where it is! I usually keep important papers or things that I reference often in a cute basket that holds legal file folders. Other things I file and put in a box and store in a closet.

  172. I helped my college bound daughter start a file system for her financial aid, scholarships, bank statements, receipts, etc. so she can find things when she needs them in her new dorm room.

    Thanks for a fun giveaway!

  173. My favorite paper conquering strategy is to not let it sit! When my daughter brings home papers or I bring in the mail, it is either recycled or filed in its proper space!
Love these file tabs! Thanks for the chance!

  177. My best filing tip is to never keep anything that can be found online (ie, bank statements, insurance documents)

  180. I dont have any magic or unusual solutions for anyone but I do find that having a file or place for each of the type of papers I need to file really helps. The first folder in each of my filing cabinet drawers I have an Ongoing file, which are the ones that just need to be dealt with first, and then filed (or thrown away).
