54 Reader Space: Radiant Closet Redo

We all have certain things that makes us giddy inside and weak at the knees.  For some, it may be chocolate cake.  For others, it may be your spouse {let's hope right!?}  For me, it is closet offices! {and my hubs of course!}

Closet office spaces might not work for everyone since closets are often times valuable and limited space, but if you have a spare one to work with {or one that is less than functional for storage}, they are quite the clever solution for a nice tucked away workspace.

I just recently discovered your blog and have so much fun reading and taking ideas from it. You are an inspiration!

My hallway closet was a mess. More than a mess, it was a dumping place for all things dirty.

With a 3 bedroom house and 4 little ones, we could use all the space we could get, so I got to work on it.

I desperately needed a space/office of my own, so I decided to turn the hallway closet into an office space!

Although it was suppose to be a one weekend project, other things got in the way, so it took us longer than expected, but we are finally done {hence the doors that need to be put on} and couldn't be more excited!

The closet inside needed some work. I had never painted it, there was one, too high of a shelf to reach and we had never carried through the hardwood floor in there. 

After all of that had been done, I got to working on making the space functional AND pretty.

I wanted there to be a focal point, so I painted the main wall with gray and white stripes. I am totally in love with it and wonder why on earth I hadn't tackled this project sooner!

After that, it didn't take much. Some organizing essentials from IKEA {only the best place ever} and some DIY projects pulled this space together in no time.

For all the materials to make this space look the way it looks, it cost me a total of about $80. Seriously.

I pretty much had everything I needed. 

The desk and shelf boards are the existing ones that were already in there, all it took was a coat of paint {which I already had}, the frames on the left were $.99 each from Goodwill, the magazine and photo holder boxes were a total of $22, the "laugh" sign I've had for years.

The mason jar project was something hubby whipped out in an evening and cost about $7. Super easy and functional!

We plan on putting in some foldable doors, so the kids stay away from the laptop, but until then, I love walking by and seeing it. It puts a smile on my face every time!!!

Less than functional right!?  Not any longer.  It doesn't even look like it is the same closet, I was completely blown away!

Swoon right?!  Here are a few more detailed shots...

• The closet was originally a dumping ground for dirty clothes, now it's a divine home office!  What a difference and such a great way to bring in a whole new "room" to their home!
• She painted stripes to give it the feeling of a room vs. a closet.  Paint always is the best way to transform any project on a budget!  
• She used many supplies she already had on hand and thrift store finds.
• The mason jar holders are a great way to maximize her desk space and offer up creative wall storage!
• She brought in fresh flowers!  Just lovely!
• She hung those adorable photos from string and mini-clothes pins.  Such a simple and fun way to display happy moments!
• She went to my favorite shopping spot {IKEA} for super inexpensive storage solutions so everything has a nice uniform look and keeps her new workspace clutter free.
• I adore that chair.  Everything about it is just sweet as pie!
