Well, the voting has ended and the majority has decided that light fixture number one is the chosen one!
Yes, the others "look" like outdoor lights because they are in fact, outdoor lights. The point is to give Emily's space a lake house feel without getting too "themey". Here are a couple examples of where outdoor lights have worked lovely inside:
{1 / 2 / 3} |
But, winner winner, you selected this Pottery Barn light fixture!
Wait, what? $180 for two? That is over half of the entire bed and bath budget!
The intention was to find inspiration. Now, it's our turn to knock it off on our budget. And I have a plan for that, you will just have to stay tuned!
If you follow along on Facebook, you may have seen that Emily and I did some thrifting last week for the project.
We scored a $5 headboard from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore:
OK, so it's an old old door. But it's going to be a rockin' headboard, just you wait!
A soap pump for $4!
And a cute bucket to place on the counter and fill with toiletries or wash clothes, for $2:
But now it's time to start painting! Painting the walls, the headboard, the bucket.... So we need a color plan!
Thanks to my friend, Pinterest, I have stumbled across two websites that help with coming up with great color combinations and inspiration. Design Seeds and Photo Card Boutique. They take a basic photo, and snag the beautiful colors to give you a fantastic color scheme.
Here are a couple we have our eyes on for this guest bathroom/bedroom makeover. Which would you pick?

This is where you come in! Leave a comment on this post with which number you would love to see in her new space!
Voting goes from now through this Sunday, 3/11.
We will be sure to share before and after pictures, project updates, cost breakdowns and sources as we begin working on the two rooms, so stay tuned!
My vote is for number 2
ReplyDelete#2. Warm and cozy, but still keeps the brightness of the greens/blues. LOVE. Can't wait to see!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to choose between 1 and 3! But if I had to choose just one, I'd go with #1.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the first color combo. The colors blend so well with each other without looking like a rainbow. Definitely would look awesome in a bathroom! All the combos would look good though :)
ReplyDeletefor a bedroom/bathroom I like the colors in 1 best!
ReplyDelete#1!
ReplyDelete1 & 2 seem very similar to me, but I think I like the grey more in # 1 versus the taupe in #2.
Great color scheme; i heart anything turquoise!! :)
#1!
ReplyDeleteAlthought I do love the shower curtain in #2.
Number 1! Love the greys in there!
ReplyDelete#1! It's got the nice pop of accents with two soothing background colors. #2 and #3 seem too busy to me. Just my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteNumber 1!
ReplyDeleteI vote #1!
ReplyDelete#1! It's by far the warmest and most inviting!
ReplyDeleteI like #1 the best too. I can't wait to see what you do. :)
ReplyDeleteNumber 1. I like that the painted bits are quite neutral, I think this is key and then there are pops of aqua and green.
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for #1.
ReplyDeleteI would say #1 or #2 but probably #2 from the perspective of the outside of her house!
ReplyDeleteLoving number 1! Great choice on the style of light fixture too, can't wait to see what piece you actually purchase and where you find it.
ReplyDeleteI like 1 or 2 but think I would go with 2 (using the outside of her house as by bouncing board)!!
ReplyDelete#2!!
ReplyDeleteI vote number 2.
ReplyDelete#1, but also love #3- brighter and more youthful.
ReplyDeleteI heart 2! Just has that lake vibe - the other two seem a touch too bright for that. :)
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for #1 - it's a very soothing combination!
ReplyDeleteCOLOR 3!! Love the POP it has!
ReplyDelete#1!!
ReplyDelete2
ReplyDelete2!
ReplyDeleteNumber 3, just because of #36B0BB!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for Number 3. The colors seem softer and more relaxing for a bedroom. Love them all though. You certainly can't go wrong.
ReplyDelete2!
ReplyDeleteI love #2. The colors seems to blend so well together.
ReplyDeleteI vote for number 1..probably because its very close to my own bed/bath color scheme. Love all three though..but 1 is my fave!
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete#1. I like that it has some more neutrals, and the colors are bold, but muted.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I've never heard of a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I just googled & we have one here! Thanks for sharing! I love to "refurb" Cant wait to see your project completed! love it :)
ReplyDeleteI like number 1 the very best!!!
ReplyDeleteI love those grays -- #1!
ReplyDeleteI like #1! They are all so similar and I liked different things about each. Very fun project to work on!
ReplyDelete#2
ReplyDeleteanother split vote- #1 or #2. There might be a few too many colours in #2 for me - a bit busy.
ReplyDelete#1-love the grays!
ReplyDelete1 is my favorite, 2 is my second favorite. I like that they are a bit calmer than the 3rd palatte.
ReplyDelete#1 for this project because it seems to be more soothing than the other choices, although I like them all...
ReplyDelete# 1
ReplyDelete#3!!!!
ReplyDelete#3 - colors are brighter :)
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete#1!!!
ReplyDelete#2
ReplyDeleteI would choose #1 because I am in love with the color gray at the moment. I also think that the first option has colors that are more peaceful and aren't too loud for the space. They are inviting!

#1
ReplyDelete#2 The colors are a bit more muted and gives a more "natural" feel. Love them all.
ReplyDeletenumber 2!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for #1!
ReplyDelete#2, Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteI'll take 2 please!
ReplyDelete#3!
ReplyDelete#2, but I don't think you can really go wrong!
ReplyDeleteI like the grey in #1 and the green in #2.... overall my vote goes for #2. Hey, where did you get the soap dispenser - LOVE IT!! It's green... so definitely #2!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a Goodwill find <3 Originally from Target...

I like #1...it is soft and relaxing.
Delete#3#3#3#3#3!!!
ReplyDeleteIt just feels like water!
Definitely #2!
ReplyDeleteLove #1!!
ReplyDeleteI love #2
ReplyDeleteI vote number 2!
ReplyDeleteOk, I love them all but I think #2 is just above the others...I think it's the darker blue that gives that scheme a little more 'grounding.'
ReplyDeleteI like #2 the best - love that palette.
ReplyDeleteSide note: be careful with greens in bathrooms (especially with wall color) - it makes your skin look awful when you're getting ready (even in good light). We learned the hard way...
This is so true!
Delete#3!
ReplyDelete#2 has my vote!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is #1 because those colors remind me of a spa and would be great in a bathroom space. They are very fresh and airy colors. #3 would be my second choice if you want a little more pop in the room from brighter. more saturated colors.
ReplyDelete#1... and I'm really disappointed that the second light fixture didnt win! :( Can you bring it to my house instead?! lol
ReplyDeleteI think I like the boldness of #3
ReplyDelete#3
ReplyDeleteI am in love with #3! That light blue at the bottom is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove #3!
ReplyDelete#2 !!!!!
ReplyDelete#1. I love the grey tones with the pop of {slightly} peacocky blue and lemon-limey green.
ReplyDeleteI love color combo #1. What a fun process...can't wait to see the finished project!
ReplyDelete#2
ReplyDeleteNumber one is great - love the pop of color!
ReplyDeleteI love #2!
ReplyDelete#2
ReplyDelete#1 would be my choice. I love the door you got great find it is going to make a fantastic headboard!
ReplyDelete#2 is my choice. I like the balance of colors. #1 does not have enough pop for my taste and #3 the bold colors conflict too much!
ReplyDelete# 2
ReplyDelete#2 is my favorite BUT I don't see how you could wrong with ANY of the choices!
ReplyDeleteI also like #2
ReplyDeleteI vote #1!
ReplyDelete#2 is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI like #2 the best...maybe because those are very similar to the colors in my home!
ReplyDeleteI vote #2! They are all close, but this one is my favorite. Your finds seem to look like they might fit in without having to be painted.
ReplyDeleteNo. 1 definitely, I want those in my bedroom now! :)
ReplyDelete#1 absolutely!
ReplyDelete#2! Love that shower curtain!
ReplyDelete#1 - I love the Grey!
ReplyDeleteI like #1 the best!
ReplyDeleteI like 2 best. It has the prettiest blends of those hues you're after, especially for a casual, not-too-themey lake house feel.
ReplyDelete2. I tend to lean towards more muted colors.
ReplyDeleteI like 2!
ReplyDeleteNumber 1, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI like #2.
ReplyDeleteNo. 1 for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like #2. All the choices are great but I think #2 has the most soothing combination. What better for the master bedroom/bath choice?
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for featuring our color palettes, it is very appreciated!
ReplyDelete#2 :)
ReplyDelete#1 is my favourite, again.
ReplyDeleteI like #1, but 2 is close.
ReplyDeleteI vote for #1, it looks very "lake" to me.
ReplyDelete#3 is my favorite!
ReplyDelete#1!!
ReplyDelete#1 again!!
ReplyDeletelove #2
ReplyDelete#1. I love how it's a bit more gray than the others.
ReplyDeleteSo funny....I just bought that shower curtain this weekend! I love it and have put it in my newly painted bathroom. Anyway I would go with choice #1.
ReplyDeletecolor scheme number 2 is my fav.
ReplyDelete#1 :) Happy Painting!!!
ReplyDelete2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2
ReplyDeletein love with the grey green and teals of #1!
ReplyDelete#1

ReplyDeleteMy vote is for #2 - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for #2 - so pretty!
ReplyDelete#2--so pretty!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteloving number 1 all the way!! the grey really adds something to the fun colors - a nice vintage-y feel, especially with the future headboard and accessories you got!
ReplyDelete#1! :)
ReplyDelete#1!
ReplyDelete#3!
ReplyDelete#1!
ReplyDelete2
ReplyDelete#3!
ReplyDeleteNumber 2!! The colors sem to just blend together beautifully. But all of them are pretty!

ReplyDeleteNumero uno...all the way! :)
ReplyDelete#2 (although any would look fantastic)
ReplyDeleteNumber 1.
ReplyDelete#2 gets my vote
ReplyDelete#2 please!
ReplyDelete#2!
ReplyDelete#3
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDeleteLove them all, but number 3 is my favorite, as it has a bit more "blue". :)
ReplyDeleteNumber 3. I like the bolder colors.
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete#2 for SURE! I'm sensing more of an organic, earthy vibe with those colors which should be good for that lake vibe?!
ReplyDeletejust want to say "vibe" one more time :P (my bedtime is coming up) lol
Delete#1 :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely #1.
ReplyDeleteGotta be #2!
ReplyDelete#1!
ReplyDelete#1 for the win!
ReplyDelete#1 for sure.
ReplyDeleteI love colour scheme #2!
ReplyDeleteFor my home I'd probably choose the "cleaner" colors of #3, but for this home I'd choose #1. I think it would look wonderful
ReplyDeleteI love #3
ReplyDeleteI would go with #2. It's lovely
ReplyDeleteMy first instinct is to go with color palette #1! Tough choice though!
ReplyDelete#1 gets my vote :D
ReplyDeleteI like number one, because of the grays.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is definitely for #2!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE #1
ReplyDeleteLove Number 1!!!
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDeleteI vote for No. 2.
ReplyDeleteI am going against the majority and saying #2. Her floors are a warm tone as is the trim work(not sure if you are keeping that or not) but think the tan will go better with the floors then a light gray. Can't wait to see :)
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete#2!
ReplyDeleteI vote #3.
ReplyDeleteI love #1!
ReplyDeleteVoting for color combo #1. You get the blues but it's muted down with the olive green.
ReplyDeleteIts a tough call between #1 and #2. I can't decide if I like the grays or the greens more
ReplyDeleteI vote for #1
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for #1. Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI love #2!
ReplyDeleteI prefer #2! The greens in that color combo are more appealing to me.
ReplyDeleteI really like #2 but there are a LOT of colors in here! Take the top color (beige) and add it to #3 and that may be the perfect set of colors. I think I really like the periwinkle blue at the bottom of #3 because it adds to the "lake" of the scheme.
ReplyDelete#1 (loving that last color...soft green, beautiful!)
ReplyDeleteI like all of them, but I think of the three I like #3 just a bit more than the others.
ReplyDelete# 1
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for #1.
ReplyDelete1
ReplyDeleteI love number three.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I adore the shower curtain in #2, I like the overall color scheme in #3. My vote is #3!

#2, I love the "greige" and the brown undertones make the colours warmer. If you lived in a warm climate I would go with #1 as the greys are lovely, but I find sometimes can be cold, especially at minus temperatures and snow!
ReplyDelete#1!
ReplyDeleteLoving #3!
ReplyDeleteI love #1!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is 3!
ReplyDelete#3!
ReplyDelete#1 - soothing with pops of color
ReplyDeleteI love 2! I've been wanting to do something similar in my own master bath. Thanks so much for the links to Design Seeds & Photo Card Boutique. They are going to be so helpful! :)
ReplyDeleteI like #2 best. No, wait ... #3. Uh, no ... #1. No, no ... #2. Yes, that's it ... #2. Definitely #2. Unless ... no, never mind. #2 it is. :)
ReplyDeleteI would pick # 1 because the tones are more muted, but not too muted. These colors have a lively earthy feel.
ReplyDeleteTWO!
