The verdict is that the afternoon couldn't have gone longer. The minutes couldn't have gone slower. The feeling of not knowing how they were all doing was torturous and having them all away for the first time was the oddest feeling....
Earlier I shared how our first day of school went, and thank you all for your kind comments! Of course I knew they were going to be OK, but it's one of those unexplained feelings of "the unknown" that eats at you until... well... until you know!
Peyton's bus rolled up first. Right on time! And he came running up with smiles and a great note from his teacher mentioning that he had a GREAT first day!
First sigh of relief.
We hung out and chatted about his day for the next 20 minutes until the next bus rolled up, again right on time!
When I asked Preston how his first day of middle school went, all I got was, "It was kinda boring, we didn't even learn anything new today." Wow, not quite the answer I was expecting. I mean seriously, it's middle school and that's all he has to say?! Talk about making me giggle!
I knew it would only be a couple more minutes tops until my little Mr. Parker would be coming off of his bus with what I was hoping would be giant grins of happiness and joy. But minutes passed and he still wasn't home. More minutes. I started calling people. Getting worried. I had a feeling that it was just first day adjusting, but when he left the way he did, that 15 minutes of extra waiting felt like hours. The boys and I were stalking the end of the driveway...
Then, the roar of his bus! Wahoo! Finally!!
And? Guess what?
He was JUST fine!
Of course I had all sorts of questions for him all about his day and how the bus ride went and everything in-between. He said he didn't want to get off of the bus at school, but he finally did and ended up having a really fun day. And when I asked if he would feel good about getting on the bus next time, I got a, "maybe".
Thanks all for following along with us during our day of firsts! We are excited for all of the fun that the new school year will bring!

Glad to hear their first day of school went well! The "it was kind of boring" about middle school thing made me giggle too. =D I hope the rest of their school days go just as good as today! =D
ReplyDeleteYour babes are beautiful. You should be so proud as a momma, for your 3 greatest accomplishments. I can only hope that God will bless me someday with such beautiful children.
ReplyDeleteSo glad everything went well. My baby starts school next year. I am not looking forward to the empty house/nest feeling you talked about. But I know that's how I will feel with both of my boys in school. They grow up too fast :(
ReplyDeleteYes for kids coming home! I am shocked 5th grade is middle school there. They don't go until 7th grade here. I went to the middle school with my 5th grader yesterday to pick up an instrument and I was disturbed the constant foul language. It made me want to home school through middle school! Hopefully yours is not the same!!
ReplyDeleteYour little men are so adorable! The smile on their face is awesome! I am surprised to hear 5th grade is Middle school too! Where I am at 6-8th grade is middle school. I hope the school days just get better!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your blog!! I am a recent new reader (within the last two months) and you've given me a TON of ideas! :)
They are so adorable:) Glad they had a great first day at school!
ReplyDeleteYahoo!
ReplyDeleteyay! Glad the first day went great. You have beautiful boys!
ReplyDeleteIt's such an unknown - you just don't know what they might experience on their first day and how they will cope. It sounds like you all made it through fine.
ReplyDeleteYour boys are so darn cute. I can't stand it. They make me giggle too. You're so good about taking pictures to capture the moments. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family, Jen! So happy to hear all went well! yeah!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is so great that you are documenting all of these firsts! My BIG little one starts school next week, and I am absolutely taking pictures! Glad they had a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteYour boys are just too cute!! A beautiful family!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!!! three different schools. How are the grades broken up in schools? Glad to hear that the first day was good except for the boring middle school LOL.
ReplyDeleteYAY!! Glad to hear it was a great day. They are just so cute all dressed alike! LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteAwww they are too cute. These posts about your sons are making me so excited to meet my little boy this November :D
ReplyDeletesuch handsome boys!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they had a great first day! It is interesting to hear how different each state is in their age for middle school. Ours early on was even different by county. Now middle school is 6-8. I know most who start in 5th have middle than junior high, then high school. We go straight from middle to high school here.
ReplyDeleteYou have such beautiful children! I'm glad that the first day turned out well.
ReplyDeleteAh Jen! Your kids are absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteLove your blog sooo much-totally addicted. here in NY we don't start school until next Tuesday but the anticipation is really causing lots of anxiety for me mostly. Isabella, my 6th grader is starting middle school too so I can appreciate every single thing you are saying. My Julia is starting Kindergarten so we are also experiencing a lot of firsts too. I usually get from my daughter"everything was fine" "good" "nothing exciting". Because she knows I'm dying for more information. My little one goes on and on detailing everything from the outfit her teacher wore to which one of the girls in her class has the potential to be her best friend. Your boys are precious, absolutely gorgeous. Good Luck! You have a terrific blog and I love your etsy store but more importantly you are a terrific mother and that I think is the best success of all. Love,Beth
I am so glad they had a great first day! About a week before my little man started pre-k, I went through what I guess, was separation anxiety from my son! I laid in bed one night thinking (and crying), "Can't I just wait in the parking lot for him, that way I can watch him on the playground to make sure he is ok?" Sounds crazy now, but I was grieving (maybe not grieving but I can't think of the right word) I guess in a way. My baby wasn't a baby anymore. That's hard to swallow. Seems like we just woke up one day (really like the day after he was born), and he was 4 years old! So I totally understand the wanting to know and worrying until you do!
ReplyDeleteFirst, your boys are TOO adorable. I have 2 boys, ages 5 and 2 and my big guy starts kindergarten next week. I printed the sign for his picture (thanks for the link) and am sure I will get NOTHING done at work that day, while I wait for his bus to bring him back home.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you survived and your boys had a great day.
I just have to say that your boys are delicious!!! What cuties:) God bless.
ReplyDeleteJen,
ReplyDeleteOMG. . .your boys are absolutely gorgeous. Is that alright to say. . ..not too girly? Anyways, they are seriously good looking kids! Glad they all had a great first day at school. I'm getting ready to send my little man off to his first day of Kindergarten this coming Tuesday and I think I'm going to spend the entire weekend having panic attacks and breakdowns. He's totally fine with it, but Mommy is a great big mess!
