Many of you know one of my blogger bff's {and awesome IHeart Organizing sponsor!} Toni, from A bowl full of lemons. If you don't, you really should, because her blog is AMAZING! So much organizing eye candy, I honestly feel like her blog, is my second home!
And today, her and I are partnering up! She gave me the opportunity to give her Shaklee products a try so I could share my experience with you!
I was actually uber giddy that I was able to give the Basic H2 a whirl. I had been eying it up for quite awhile now. Here is why:
Organic Super Cleaning! YES PLEASE! Many of you that have been following me for awhile know that I try to use products good for both the earth AND my family. That's what Shaklee is all about! But here is where is gets REALLY great, beyond the typical earth friendly cleaner.
This bottle is uber concentrated. Meaning that you mix it with some water to create your cleaners... different amounts of concentrate to water portions to make a degreaser, an all purpose cleaner and a window cleaner!
And it's SO easy! The bottle tells you exactly how to mix it!
It was almost laughable when I read the water to concentrate ratio. That's right, I put 2 drops of concentrate into a spray bottle of water. 2 DROPS! No way is that gonna work.... right?! How could it?! That's like nothing! Little did I know my friends, this stuff is a miracle cleaning solution!
Check out this stat right on the bottle....
48 gallons of cleaner from one bottle?! WAHOO!!!! I instantly felt spoiled!
But again, does it work? Well, I couldn't wait to give it a try on one of my weekly messes...
Forgive me for what you are about to see, but it doesn't take much before my microwave looks like a crime scene....
So I sprayed a couple of squirts of the natural degreaser formula, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and wiped it down with a damp rag....
Cleaning the microwave has never been so easy and quick. And I know that what I used is completely SAFE! Love that feeling!
So I couldn't wait to do more. I did my counters, appliance fronts and table with the all purpose cleaner, which left ZERO streaks! And then I tackled my patio door. Which had been glarred with dog nose and slobber... no problem for the Shaklee glass cleaner though!
The cleaning products won me over... they are easy to make, clean amazingly well, are safe for my family and our earth and one bottle can keep me stocked up for SUCH a long time!
Into the cleaning caddy they went!
LOVE! To see even more information on this wonder product and see a jaw dropping price chart, check out Toni's post here.
Want some good news!?! Toni is giving away 10 samples of Basic H2 {or what I call, super cleaner!}

Your experiment reminded me of my own microwaving trick. For tough food stains, simply microwave a cup of water on High for a few minutes to moisten and loosen food. It comes right off!

ReplyDeleteMy cleaning tip- when my sister and I were young and had an argument, my mom made us wash windows. One of us inside and one outside. We had to wash the same window at the same time so we had to stare at each other! My mom had cleaned windows and we usually forgot about the argument! I can't wait to try this trick on my kids!

Iheart a clean home! I use vinegar and water on just about everything. I also use it as a fabric softener. My hubby's work clothes can get pretty nasty and store bought fabric softener is a no-no for them, but vinegar helps get them clean and smell nice. I heart a clean home! That's for sure! My little cleaning tip is to just do it. I find that it really doesn't take nearly as long as I thought the task was once I finally do it. It takes mere minutes to clean out the toilet or wash out the sink or do a load of dishes. If I spent half the time cleaning as I did dreading it, I could do the job and then be done with it! :) mrscresswell@hotmail.com

IHeart a clean home! Is this the stuff you can use on wood floors? I'm always looking for something good for my wood. My favorite cleaning tip is actually for microwaves and disposals. Slice a lemon in half float it in a bowl of water in nuke it for 3 -5 minutes, wipe all grease and goo out of microwave, run water with lemon down disposal for a clean smelling disposal and microwave!
ReplyDeleteI heart a clean home! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cleaning tip is wierd: newspapers for windows. No streaks whatsoever...throw them in the recycling bin when they're dried out again (I throw them in a box in the garage...on recycling day, I throw them out.) Used to think this was whack, right? Then tried it, and can actually tell if my hubs or child clean with something other than newspaper! I use it on mirrors, too! You won't BELIEVE it!

Now that I'm a mom, everything is cleaned with environmentally friendly, non-toxic cleansers.

ReplyDeleteI find I'm always pulling out the baking soda and vinegar when it comes to my deep cleaning days!
IHeart a Clean Home!
ReplyDeleteI once read that the best way to clean your toilet is:
The night before cleaning, pour a half cup of distilled white vinegar in the toilet. Vinegar is a mild acid that will neutralize and break down the water rings in the toilet. The next day raise the toilet lid, sprinkle in some baking soda. This serves as a scrub. Grab your toilet bowl cleaning brush and clean the inside of the toilet. Since you've already poured vinegar in the night before, cleaning should be easy. Vinegar is a better disinfectant than bleach that breaks down the hard water stains.
My toilet has never been cleaner.

ReplyDeleteI love my all in one cleaner and use it pretty much everywhere, but it's nowhere near such a good concentrate and very friendly :(

My favorite cleaning tip? Pick up as you go. Seriously. It makes you feel majorly less overwhelmed at the end of the day when you only have the last activity's worth of stuff to put away than a whole day's worth of jazz laying everywhere around the house. I try very hard not to end the day with a mess that takes more than 15 minutes to clean up. And I'm talking WHOLE HOUSE. I hate waking up and seeing craziness at every turn in the morning. Best to just try to stay on top of it as it happens. Ok . . . I'll stop talking your ear off now. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. It took me FOREVER to realize this is what I needed to do to not constantly feel overwhelmed. Just saying. Thanks, Flylady.

IHeart a clean home! I make cleaning my little girls' room part of our evening routine. I also think it helps to keep your dishwasher empty and have everyone just rinse their dish and put it right in the dishwasher when they're done eating/drinking. Beats doing them all at once.

My cleaning tip: I use a 1/2 cup of vinegar in my washing machine with each load I do. It is a natural static remover & makes my laundry soft!

Cleaning tip....turn off the tv and turn on music. It makes it much easier to get things done and not get sucked in with a show. I dance and clean. It's my thing.

ReplyDeleteMy best cleaning tip is Mrs. Myers lemon cleaner. I love that I can use it on every surface I my home. (It sounds like this may be even better, though!)

IHeart a Clean Home! My favorite cleaning tip is simply to clean up as I go. Easier said than done but if I at least clean up after myself as I go, it's less to do as I clean up after the hubby and dog. *wry smile* I also find those "lost" socks are great to use to clean/wipe down baseboards, window sills, door jams as I walk by.
ReplyDeleteIHeart a Clean Home! My tip is to make cleaning a more enjoyable and not so tedious task for your kids. I start by having my boys each pick up say 10 things, then go down to 9 things each, etc. depending on how much stuff needs to get done. One some baddd badd days, I may need to start at 20, but then I usually do 20, 15, 10, then start the single digit countdown.

IHeart a clean home!! I love Shaklee's Get Clean products!! My favorite is the Basic H and Scour Off.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite natural cleaner when I do not have Shaklee is vinegar and water... not only is it a great all purpose cleaner... it is cheap and it is also helps keep spiders away. I haven't tried it yet but I heard if you dip newspaper in the vinegar/water mix and clean your mirrors with it that it does awesome!!

The book, "Clean House, Clean Planet" is my favorite resource for cleaning! Club soda for glass/mirrors/windows is amazing, safe, and so much cheaper than any window cleaner you can buy! :o)

ReplyDeleteMy secret to a clean home? Invite people over! :) That's a sure-fire way to get myself motivated to cleaning everything top to bottom - because when people come to visit, who doesn't snoop, at least just a little, right?
I have 3 kids and my "real" best secret to cleaning my home is to involve my kiddos in the cleaning process so they don't make a big mess and leave it for others (aka - me). Even though they don't always clean as well as I do, the added bonus is that they learn valuable life skills and I have less cleanup work because of it.

ReplyDeleteAs a stay-at-home mom of two girls, I am a big fan of staying on top of things as much as possible so I don't end up wasting time doing one big clean-up. It's not easy but I find this actually SAVES me time rather than LOSING time w/my little ones :)

ReplyDeleteI also use viegar for most cleaning. My favorite tip is to cut up microfiber dish towels to use for washcloths. I switch often throughout the day. One to wipe the counters, one to wash the baby's tray, etc., so smaller cloths means that more fit in my drawer/washer and I don't feel bad about using 4 in one day.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite tip...is to buy a fabric/cloth inside shower curtain (instead of the plastic). When I clean my bathroom I give that fabric curtain a spray down of clorox clean up or bleach...so I know these are not "safe" products. :( It gets rid of the soap build up and water coloring.

IHeart a Clean Home: My tip on cleaning that works so well is to put a Pyrex measuring cup of water into the microwave and heat the water to boiling, then allow the cup to stay in the microwave approximately 5 minutes longer, then open the door and apply the cleaning agent to the inside of the microwave and this trick helps to loosen up the hard cooked on stuff to be wiped out easier.

ReplyDeleteI like giving my kitchen sink a hot bath to clear it of bad odors and grease (I don't even have a garbage disposal, but know it would work if you have one also). Get a whole kettle of water to a boil; pour a good amount of baking soda down each drain, and a good amount of salt. Pour hot water down each drain and then seal the drains. Let sit for at least 2-3 hours.

My favorite cleaning tip came from my mom when cleaning the drains in your house. You need baking soda, vinegar, and your drain stopper. Sprinkle soda down the drain, pour in a little vinegar, and pull the drain stopper. While the soda and vinegar are working their magic, fill the sink up with warm water. After 5 minutes, pull the drain stopper and allow the water to drain out. I've NEVER had a drain plug up...thanks mom for the great advice!!
Iheart a clean home too! One of my tips is that I love to get my kiddos involved. I bought a new mop today and they all fought over it! I would love to try these products- this is the 3rd time I've tried to win them. Maybe the 3rd time's a charm??? tripletsplusanother.blogspot.com
