October Featured Space: Kitchen - A Little Inspiration

I was paging through the new Crate & Barrel catalog I got in the mail today, and saw this:

Photobucket

I fell in love with the overall feeling of the space they staged, but something even cooler caught my eye.  What an incredible multifunctional way to store cookie cutters!!

Seriously, if I knew how to bake cutout cookies, I would display my cookie cutters as such.  This picture inspires me to really think of creative new ways to decoratively store my goods around the kitchen.

What's been inspiring you lately?

  2. Hiya! I can help with this one! A super easy trick that no one really talks about is how to keep the shape of cut out sugar cookies when baking. Freeze them! First, roll out the dough then freeze it for about 4 minutes. Then stamp with your cookie cutters, remove the excess dough, and refreeze the cut out dough for another 3 - 4 minutes. Pop them right in the oven from the freezer and they will keep their shape perfectly!! :) Oh yes, and I. am. in. love. with that idea of displaying cutters! THANK YOU!!

  4. Super Cute! I had to stop subscribing to their catalog because it made me want to redecorate everything in the house twice! haha - love the cookie cutter idea (though I can't bake cookies to save my life!)

  5. I have a few bear shaped cookie cutters and pancake shapers which I plan to display on my wall above the stove if I ever get my kitchen done. :)

  6. i'm no baker either, but my mom used to cut our sandwitches into shapes with cookie cutters. Maybe you could use them for your boys, then send the edges off with your hubs for work :)

  7. This picture caught my eye, too! I do like to bake, but my cookie cutters are from different places and don't match quite as well as these. YOU have been inspiring me lately--I am tackling my pantry and kitchen cabinets this weekend thanks to your inspiring blog posts!

  8. That does look cute. I have way too many to display them that way though. I keep mine in one of those Ikea metal lidded boxes.
I have a fool-proof recipe for cut out sugar cookies if you ever want it.
