Thank goodness I get to feature my favorite space ever this month, the outdoors! I arrived home from the store the other day with boatloads of seed packets for flower and herb planting, and had no place for them to call home. Uh oh! Crisis alert right? {chuckles}
And you all know by now how this gals brain works and how much IHeart giving everything a respected place to call their habitat, so I let the wheels spin for only a couple of quick seconds before that light bulb went off and I remembered that I had just used the last of the Kleenex from another snazzy box. You may recall that I am all about re-using empty boxes and containers, from soup cans to clean-up wipe tubs, they all get a mini-makeover to be revamped into storage.
So consider this another post of Jen at it again.....
I snagged that empty Kleenex box and tore the top off.
And then I wrapped it in some floral scrapbook paper to pretty it up a bit. It was in fact going to be holding flower seeds!
Next came some decorative ribbon just to give it a little extra touch!
And finally, using basic scrapping materials, I whipped together a quick label!
That of course ran through the laminator quick before being affixed with some hot glue, since it was going to live in our garage which can get dusty, I wanted it to be protected!
And last but not least, for some more adorableness, a little flower got glued to the front!
Beginning to end, maybe 15 minutes of invested time. Not too bad, eh? Time to pop the little seedling inside of their new home...
And take the finished product out to it's new home in the garage, with the rest of my gardening stash!
Not bad what 15 minutes and using some already own supplies can get you! That's why IHeart organizing so much, I can do a little project here and there to get results that last forever!
Side by side before and after? {my favorite part!}
Anyone else recently take on a 15 minute project that made a big impact in your life? {ok, putting my seeds into a kleenex box may have not "made a big impact", but I will always know where they are!} So any impact is a good one I say! How about a quicky makeover of something you already had, just to give it a fresh update and purpose? I would heart to hear {or SEE} all about it!

This is a great idea! Every year I buy more seeds because I can't find mine. Looks great. Keep up the good work.

That looks great! You're always so handy in the organizing department. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your letters on this idea. How did you make them or they store bought letters?
ReplyDelete@mamakraus, I actually just used some scrapbook stickers to do the letters.

Hi. I'm new to your blog, but boy am I happy I stumbled upon it! I can't wait to make a lil home for all my seeds! I'm just curious, what did you use to glue or hold the scrapbook paper in place? Did you glue the whole paper or just where the edges would overlap?
ReplyDeleteI used hot glue for this project, and just used as needed {typically just on edges}.
