Hello and THANK YOU so much for taking a second to check out my new blog, and learn about a recent decision I have made to start up "IHeartOrganizing", a Professional Organizing business!!
As many of you may know, I have been staying home with my munchkins and doing in home daycare for a little over a year now. I had left a management job in the Insurance Industry, to stay home with my beautiful boys. To ensure that I was able to provide an income and some fun and play for the kids, I decided to open a daycare! I am so lucky to have the opportunity to be home with kids all day, it is such a fulfilling and amazing job to have! So why add more to my plate?
The answer is one that I don't exactly know right now. What I do know is that for as long as I can remember, I have loved to organize and decorate, it's my passion, my hobby and what I have longed to do for a living. Now I have always been a little on the nervous side about making a career out of my hobby, but the more I think about it, the more it just seems to make sense!
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I could spend every waking moment working on organizing and house projects. Beautifying and simplifying a space is not only gratifying, but rewarding at the same time. Some of my favorite tasks (you may think I am crazy) are making spreadsheets to organize budget and business data, organizing the pictures of my fabulous family, cleaning out every inch of my house and ensuring everything has a proper home in the garage, the kitchen pantry and the kid's closets, painting, re-arranging, and making never ending "Want To Do (WTD)" lists of new home project ideas! It is my thriving zone. I find peace when a space around me is clutter free and in good order. Next to my family, it definitely is my passion and oddly enough, my hobby!
How many of you out there would like to say, that your hobby and passion is what you do for a living?! I know I might sound a little loopy, but life is all about taking risks. Starting up my own organizing business has been the answer to my dream job question for quite some time. I don't want to always wonder, "What if?". I know that I must be realistic about this, it is going to take a LONG time to get this going, but I am hopeful and driven enough to turn this into an amazing gig! Time to get started and pray that it all works out!
I must make sure to thank my husband! I have a feeling most spouses would look at their wives as if they had a funny growth on their face, when they come to them and say one day, "Honey, I want to clean out closets for a living", but my Bryan, he knows me, and has shared in my crazy organizing antics for 10 years now, so it was no surprise to him that this was my fate. And he has been amazingly supportive through this decision! I couldn't be more fortunate for that!
So, you may be curious how you fit into all of this? Well, if anything, use it as a last resort for some hopefully interesting reading, on a lazy rainy day. If you find yourself wondering how the process is going, come and check in! As I am going to use this as a place to share all my many crazy moments in the starting an organizing business process. On top of that, I see this as a great place to gain ideas from you. I have a lot of burning questions for you readers on ways you keep your life organized, your tips and tricks, your opinions on my ideas and project, etc...! I am pleading on my hands and knees for you to take my polls, as your opinions are what matter most. I also believe that organizing goes hand in hand with design, another passion of mine. So I am going to add in home tours, before and afters, old, current and new projects I am drumming up, and anything else I can think up along the way! So to start out strong, please leave a comment to tell me I am nuts (ok, not REALLY, geeze!) Ok, so maybe not that, but let me know what you think about all of this!?
My next entry will include a few logo's Bryan and I started mocking up and playing around with, and it will be your job to vote on your favorite one!
Thanks again everyone! I can't express how much it means to me that you have taken some of your time to read this! My first poll is to left side of this post; please take a minute to peak at it and vote!!!

Did you have a different blog before this one?
ReplyDeleteNope! This was it! So fun to look back to two years ago!
Deletexoxo,
Jen
Organizing is a huge passion of mine as well! I started reading your blog a while back but have had some missing pieces so I have decided that instead of checking for updates everyday I am going to start from here and work my way forward till I catch up. I am eager to learn more organizing tips and tricks as organizing is something I would love to do professionally one day too! Thanks for so much inspiration! ~ Megan
ReplyDeleteHi Ms. Jen!
ReplyDeleteI discovered your blog a few months ago, and I really love everything that you have done so far! I've loved to organize and clean since I was young (although at 20 years of age, I am still pretty young, so I guess I can say "since I was young-er" x]), and your blog has really inspired me to pursue this interest. My dream job is also to become a professional organizer, but being only twenty and still in college, I'm not exactly sure how feasible organizing would be as a career for me. In any case, I just wanted to thank you for being so creative and courageous for turning your passion into your job! I truly hope that I can do the same in the future. I always look forward to reading about all of the fun you are having with your organizing projects. They really make my heart smile <(:3.
Sincerely,
Katherine :)
